Teacher Feature - Megan
Megan trained with Body Control Pilates back in 2012 and continues to develop her teaching and own technique by attending both Matwork and Reformer courses. She always strives to bring variation by using small equipment and passion to all of her classes. Let’s find out a little bit more about Megan!
Megan, what sparked your interest in Pilates?
I’ve always loved movement and exploring different forms of it. I actually had no idea I had been doing ‘Pelvic Clocks’ in voice classes at Drama School, until I investigated Pilates further - I went to a few Studios and fell in love with the whole new language of movement. Having come from training that was about perfection, it was liberating in my early twenties to find that you can access movement with technique but not have to perform it.
Favourite Pilates exercise? That’s definitely Swan Dive Matwork.
Best moment as a Pilates teacher? My best moments are just ongoing. I just love finding those moments in my own practice and alongside clients.
What do you love about your job? I love learning about anatomy. The who’s, why’s, and what’s. It’s just so interesting!
How would your colleagues at Mycore describe you? A whirlwind!! Lot’s of energy with a big heart. Oh and I can’t coordinate clothes!
What did you want to be when you grew up? I always wanted to be a performer. Either that or have a library on a canal boat (like Rosie & Jim!) until someone pointed out it would be hard to get the books back!
An interesting fact about you? I'm half Irish.
Superpower you'd like to have? I’d just love to be able to time travel. That would be amazing!
Three things on your Bucket list? To visit Canada, to learn sign language and to research my family tree.
Celeb you'd choose to be stuck on a desert island with? David Attenborough or Pink.
Favourite places in Hitchin? I love a good bookshop so I’m frequently in Waterstones rooting round for a vintage book to read. I also love a Hermitage breakfast or Hitchin Little Deli for Welsh Cheese.
Your life motto? It’s a simple one. It’s just ‘BE KIND’
Thanks Megan!
