Imani has been with Mycore since 2018, having done the bulk of her training in the US. Let's find out a little more about Imani:

Imani what sparked your interest in Pilates?
I was seeking a low impact exercise. From a young age I've had problems with my hips & knees, so doing burpees and jumping jacks in all those types of fitness classes was doing more harm than good.

Favourite Pilates exercise? A rollover - it's a massage for the spine.

Best moment as a Pilates teacher? When clients tell me they have been feeling better after coming to classes or private lessons.

What do you love about your job? The creativity it allows. You can get pretty inventive with props and the machines.

How would your colleagues at Mycore describe you? Creative! I do like to venture in to the realm of dynamic reformer, which is a little more contemporary than the classical repertoire. I love the mix of the two.

What did you want to be when you grew up? A backing dancer for Britney or NSync. I have no former dance training and never seriously pursued it. I just thought it looked fun!

An interesting fact about you? I've just started rock climbing and it's the first thing I've found harder than an advanced Pilates session.

Superpower you'd like to have? Teleportation so I could teleport to NYC to have dinner and drinks with friends at my favourite restaurant!

Celeb you'd choose to be stuck on a desert island with? Richard Branson so he could charter one of his boats to get me off there - I'm not good with sand!

Favourite places in Hitchin? Chia have great Vegan options and interesting hot drinks. The Groundworks for it's delicious brunch, and Quotidian, which is simple but an amazing bakery.

Your life motto? “If you don't use it, you'll lose it”
